Doctors’ protest continues in Balochistan QUETTA Young Doctors
Association (YDA) held a protest demonstration in front of the Chief
Minister’s (CM) Secretariat on Tuesday, asking the government to fulfil
its demands. The protesting doctors marched towards Sandeman Hospital in
the form of a procession on their way to Prince and Jinnah roads.
Carrying placards inscribed with slogans in support of their demands,
the doctors kept chanting
slogans. They also staged a sit-in outside the CM’s Secretariat and
disrupted the flow of traffic. Addressing the doctors, YDA President
Abdul Samad Panezi said, “We are not afraid of losing jobs, and our
protest will continue till our demands are met.” He said more than 1,000
doctors, including senior doctors and lady doctors had submitted their
resignation to the YDA so far. “Fresh doctors will not give the joining
until the problems of doctors are resolved,” he added. It may be
mentioned here that the Balochistan government sacked 66 protesting
doctors on Monday, under the Ordinance 2000, while another 61 protesting
doctors were sacked on Tuesday. Around 127 doctors, in total, have been
fired from their jobs within the last two days. Meanwhile, all the
Out-Patient Departments (OPDs) remained closed while scheduled
operations were cancelled. People vented their anger at the doctors and
government for not paying any heed to the sufferings of ailing humanity.
OPDs of all the major hospitals of the provincial capital, including
Helper’s Hospital, Bolan Medical College
Teaching Hospital, Fatima Jinnah TB Sanatorium and Sandeman Hospital
wore a deserted look, as no doctor was present to treat patients.
